ASLI ÖZARSLAN (*1986 in Berlin) studied theater and media from 2007 to 2011 at the University of Bayreuth as well as philosophy and sociology at the Université Sorbonne IV in Paris. She subsequently worked for 3sat Kulturzeit, ZDF, and the ARD foreign studio in Warsaw. She attended international film workshops. From 2012 to 2017, she studied documentary film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. INSEL 36 (2014) and her graduation film DIL LEYLA (2016) won numerous awards. In 2014, she received the Deutschlandstipendium, in 2015 the scholarship from the Academy of Arts in the Film and Media Art section, and in 2017 the scholarship from the Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul.

With her current debut film project ELLBOGEN, she participated in the 74th Berlinale in the Generation section and won, among others, the prize for the best literary adaptation at the Frankfurt Book Fair. She was part of the Torino Film Lab and the mentoring program Into The Wild. In 2023, she was invited by NETFLIX to a talent workshop in Prague.
