OPENING EVENT WITH NIELS ALBERG FROM “PUBLIKUM”

Programme of the “Im Atelier” opening event, 11:00 to noon, on 20 January 2023 at the Kino im Uferbau

How does a film reach its audience? Growing competition from streaming services is making this question increasingly important. The opening event of the “Im Atelier” section of the Solothurn Film Festival, organised jointly by the festival and the Migros Culture Percentage Story Lab, will therefore focus on audience building. The Danish tool PUBLIKUM combines AI and anthropology to bring filmmakers closer to their audiences. Co-founder Niels Alberg will provide insight into the new platform.
We are also pleased to be able to present the projects sponsored in the second phase of their development. These projects will be screened publicly for the very first time as part of the opening event. In discussions with moderator Monika Schärer, the directors, producers, authors, and game designers of these projects will talk about their creations and the collaboration with the Story Lab. 11:00 to noon on Friday, 20 January 2023 at the Kino im Uferbau.

Main programme partner of the “Im Atelier” section of the 58th Solothurn Film Festival

For the third year in a row, the Migros Culture Percentage Story Lab is a main programme partner of the “Im Atelier” section of the Solothurn Film Festival. Launched in 2021, the section considers contemporary issues, offering space for creative dialogue and public debate. The upcoming edition, which will be held under the heading “Between stage and screen,” will focus on the connection between theatre and film, highlighting new forms of artistic expression.
On Monday, 23 January 2023, a discussion will be held at the Solothurn City Theatre between Story Lab’s Alejandra Jenni (project: “zärtlich”) and filmmakers Sophie Dascal, Clara Eden, and Charlotte Riondel. They will talk about birth, sexuality and attraction as addressed in their film projects.
